Patrick Shaha – Faustino Lopez
My oldest son Ben, while serving in US Embassy Madrid, ran into this man who, if I remember correctly, is Faustino Lopez, long-time church leader.
Addendum by Dave Hall – Faustino Lopez is someone that I had only vaguely remembered when I was on my mission. He contacted me in 2009, after I had prayed for help with my attitude toward missionary work. I told the Lord that of the several people I had helped bring into the Church, both on my mission and after, none of them, to my knowledge, had remained active, and I was discouraged about all my missionary efforts during my life. I asked the Lord for help getting a better attitude toward my missionary work. Faustino had tracked me down and asked me for some help as he had been asked to put together a history of the Church in Spain and had heard that I had a detailed journal I had kept. He told me that Elder Bunnell and I had introduced him to the gospel (this would have been in the fall of 1970) and I was then transferred out of the area and probably didn’t know that he had joined the Church. He added that he had gotten married in the temple, had five children who all served missions, had served himself as a mission president, and was currently an Area Seventy. Him telling me that was tender mercy and a great boost to my spirits.
